our story
Now in our fifties, we have decided to retire from the corporate world and explore a more creative life. One of our great ambitions is to find a place in the world to create a community of friends to enjoy retirement with. Ideally something like a rural farm with a sea view, big enough for everyone to have individual homes and leveraging the existing farm house as communal space. Some people may choose to live there part of the year, others may decide to live there full time.
It’s all about bringing people together and sharing a good life.

In search of our afterglow, we have traversed the rain forests of Costa Rica, the islands in Panama, the beaches of Florida and Cape Town, and the coastal towns of southern Spain. And after all the travel, it was the jagged coast of the Algarve that captured our imagination - specifically Porto de Mos in Lagos, Portugal. From this beautiful beach on the coast of the Atlantic, our quest to build a community of adventurous spirits now has a home base. Bom dia!
Friends and family are invited to come spend time with us and explore this beautiful part of the world -- from the caves of the Algarve to the hills of Lisbon. Also we are hoping that you'll join the conversation and become part of the afterglow community as we build our future in Portugal.

We are very fortunate to have built a good life so far. Now we would like to build a community, virtually and physically, that will allow us to give back and be connected to friends and creative souls. Want to make your own wine or olive oil and have free range chickens? Is it time to write that book or relax and take a yoga course?
Everything is possible when we come together. We’re also looking to create opportunities for talented artists/designers to become part of our “artist residency” and captivate us and our friends with their talent.
